Prosperity Innovators Challenge
For the Prosperity Tribe. We’re excited to bring you the Healthy Lifestyle & Regular Exercise Initiative and see the innovative ideas you come up with. To help you in your quest to develop the most effective and engaging proposal, we have outlined a set of standard requirements that your proposal should contain.
This initiative stems from a sincere desire to promote well-being and healthy lifestyles among our members, while also upholding the standards set forth by the NAMFISA directive. We understand that times have been challenging, with changes in benefits and the general strain that life presents. That’s why we are turning to you, our valued team, to create a positive spin that will appeal to our members, specifically those who are young and healthy.
Our goal is to come up with a program that encourages members to lead healthier lives by rewarding regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and preventive health measures. We want to see your innovative and creative ideas that can turn this aspiration into a reality!
This initiative opens up a wonderful opportunity for all staff to submit their proposals either individually or as a team. The best part? The individual or team with the winning proposal will be awarded a prize of N$20,000!
But that’s not all. Even if the Board of Trustees does not approve the proposal for inclusion in our benefit structure, the reward will still be paid. In the event that the Exco does not deem any of the proposals fit for recommendation to the BOT, the prize money will still be N$5,000.
This is an exciting time for us, and we can’t wait to see your brilliant ideas. So let’s all dive in and make the most of this opportunity to create a healthier, happier, and more vibrant community.

4. Regulatory Compliance:
- Current Practice: Some registered Funds provide gym rebates and wellness programs as benefits to members. These programs do not necessarily involve the provision of health care treatment by a registered person, as required by the Medical Aid Funds Act (MAF Act).
- Legal Interpretation: Only a health care treatment provided by a person registered in terms of any law qualifies as a “medical service” under the MAF Act. Therefore, gym rebates and wellness programs that do not involve the provision of health care treatment by a registered person do not meet the definition of a “medical service” and are not permissible under the MAF Act.
- Directive: In light of the above, all registered Funds are directed to discontinue the practice of providing gym rebates and wellness programs that do not involve the provision of health care treatment by a registered person. This includes programs like boot camp fitness training, quit smoking programs, cooking workshops, walking clubs, corporate wellness programs, and any other type of wellness program that does not involve the provision of health care treatment by a registered person.
- Compliance: Funds are required to comply with this directive by amending their rules to reconcile with the provisions of the MAF Act.
